“I'm a student at Minnechaug and from what I hear, it is one of the best schools in the area. Almost all of the teachers are great, and the assistant principals are amazing. You don't see much of the principal though, only at assemblies. And drugs are there, like at any other school, but are really not an issue on school grounds. The few people I know that tried smoking in the bathroom were caught and suspended, so they are strict about it. Extracurriclar activities are also MORE than reccomended at chaug, and there is a lot of school spirit. It is a really nice school to go to.”

“Minnechaug is an O K school for students. it has a good administrative staff. the assisant principals are always available, but you never really see the real principal except at assemblies. the drug situation isnt as bad as believed. we do have a problem here with drugs, but so doesnt every highschool in this country.”

“As a student at this high school, I'd like to commend Minnechaug on their great faculty and staff. The music program is outstanding, and though the english department is weak, the other departments make up for it in their strength. As to the issue of drugs - I'm afraid that the previous review was sadly a falsity. Wilbraham is not a lower-class area - in fact, Wilbraham and its neighboring town of Hampden (both towns' teenagers attend Chaug) are upper middle-class. Drugs? No more than any other high school, and certainly much less than other high schools in the area. I'm afraid that unless you attend a private, perhaps even religiously-affiliated school, you won't get away from drugs - and maybe not even then will they be completely out of every life of every student on campus. However, Minnechaug makes drug use a serious issue.”

“I was a student at Minnechaug from 1973-1977, and I also have a daughter who now attends this high school. She is in her sophmore year. Although there were many good teacher, there were also many who were bad. Drugs run rampant in this high school, and little done to stop it, by either parents or faculty. These children all come from upperclass families, so it has little to do with economics, and everything to do with lack of discipline and structure.”
