Agaw is actually considered a separate city by the US Department of Health and Massachusetts State Police (MBTA), as it is located within the Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Agawam also borders Suffield, CT, and is just 20 minutes from Hartford, but that's only half a minute from what Connecticut has to offer. Country Manor is also home to many local universities and colleges, including the University of Connecticut, Connecticut State University and the State College of New Haven.

Six Flags New England in Agawam is a must-see, as it is located on the banks of the Connecticut River. Agawsam also offers a number of attractions, including the AgAWam Museum of Art, the State College of New Haven and the University of Connecticut and many more.

The Naugatuck River Greenway is open in a few short, separated sections totaling just over 5 miles and will one day cover the entire length of the river from the town of Agawam to the state border. This 5.8-mile trail is part of a planned East Coast Greenway, an off-road route that will eventually run from Calais, Maine, to Key West, Florida. Southwick Rail Trail runs north along the Massachusetts - Connecticut state lines to Westfield Town Line and south to Torrington. The Sue Grossman River Greenways are (still) located less than two miles away between the towns of Winchester in the north and Torrington in the south.

Putnam River Trail runs from the town of Westfield Town Line in the north to the state border and south to Southbridge. The U-shaped trail meets the Southwick Rail Trail, a two-mile start / finish path at the intersection of Westside Road and Southfield Road. This route connects the communities of Brimfield, Sturbridge and Northbridge with the towns of Torrington, Northampton, Southbury, Westford, Easton, Wethersfield and Waltham and the city of Boston.

This historic point once played a key role in connecting Agawam and West Springfield, and we still know it's a great place to chill out after an occasional Super Bowl get-together.
